The Australian Water Brokers Association (AWBA) has reminded all members of their obligation to uphold both the associations and ACCC’s Code of Conduct, following the publication of an article in The Weekly Times that raised allegations of inappropriate behavior by a water market intermediary.

In a communication to members, the AWBA Executive encouraged all brokers and intermediaries report all instances of inappropriate conduct. The AWBA’s voluntary code is designed to “ensure high standards of conduct by water market intermediaries” and “to promote a high standard of integrity” among water broking professionals.

The AWBA Committee drew particular attention to Professional Conduct , including intermediaries’ obligations to “place the interests of the client before the interests of themselves or a related party”.

Maintaining professional and ethical standards is critical to the reputation of both individual members and the Association as a whole. The conduct of each member reflects directly on the credibility of the broader water broking profession.

Members are encouraged to take the time to read and familiarise themselves with the ACCC and AWBA Code of Conduct to ensure ongoing compliance and upholding of the values that define the AWBA.
